ARHS Victoria Narrow Gauge Slides

A very interesting image collection.  Thanks to the ARHS Vic Members who did make available these images when the film strip was made up.  I think in 1958. The images seem to date from early 1900s to the 1950s. My grandfather PG Dow ( a long time member of ARHS Vic ) took some of these images, notably the last train departing from Crowes and some on the Walhalla line.

Enjoy!  A high resolution scan is available for all the images (3 to 5 MB or so). Just follow the links.

It is a 39 image collection, broken up into groups of 10 images per post (no #4 in first group).
This collection was originally a film strip, and has been cut and individually mounted as slides.

I will be adding notes to each slide as locations are identified (a work in progress).

Lady hanging off G42 is my Nanna. Walhalla is where my Grandpa and Nanna spent their honeymoon. It is an interesting place with lots of bushwalks (they were both bush walkers) and some timber tramways. 1940s.
Rail from Melbourne to Moe by steam hauled passenger service (5' 3" gauge)  then the mixed to Walhalla on the narrow gauge (2' 6").  How grand!!  :)
